Rauma, idyllic city by the sea
The city of around 37 000 inhabitants is a rarity, as it pampers tourists by offering two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Old Rauma and Sammallahdenmäki.
Vibrant Old Rauma is one of the world's most spectacular attractions, with a preserved medieval atmosphere combined with modern commerce and services. In addition to numerous boutiques and galleries, as well as cafes and restaurants, Old Rauma has plenty of museums.
Beside Old Rauma stands the lutheran Church of the Holy Cross from 1512.
Sammallahdenmäki is a Bronze Age ancient site. It was inscribed to the UNESCO World Heritage list in December 1999 as the first prehistoric archaeological site in Finland.
